My favorite Firefox extensions

  • Adblock µBlock uBlock Origin : should I have to explain?
  • ColorfulTabs : nice colors in your tabs
  • Firebidule : rename your browser with a random name. Totally useless, so a must have ;-)
  • Fission : address bar and progress bar, like Safari
  • Flagfox : Displays a country flag depicting the location of the current website's server and provides quick access to detailed location and webserver information
  • Flashblock : Disable/Enable automatic flash content display, which can activated on-demand
  • Forecastfox : Get international weather forecasts from AccuWeather.com, and display it in any toolbar or statusbar with this highly customizable and unobtrusive…
  • Foxmarks Bookmark Synchronizer : Share bookmarks between computers, and on The web
  • GSpace : use your Gmail account to store files, using a FTP-like interface.
  • Greasemonkey : Allows you to customize the way a webpage displays using small bits of JavaScript (see below for the scripts I use)
  • It's All Text! : Edit forms using your favorite editor. here is a tip to use it with vim.
  • Konquefox : adds some usefull buttons : Clear URL, Go Up and Zoom, for a better integration in Linux or KDE
  • Neo Diggler : add a “clear url bar” button, along with some nice shortcuts, similar to Konquefox, but Firefox 6-compatible
  • mediaplayerconnectivity : allow you to launch embed video of website in an external application
  • MR Tech Disable XPI Install Delay : disables default delay when installing extensions
  • Nagios Checker : The statusbar indicator of the events from the network monitoring system Nagios
  • Tab Preview : shows a preview of tab contents
  • Hide Menubar : just as the name suggests, press <alt> key to show it again
  • User-Agent Switcher : adds a menu and a toolbar button to switch the user agent of the browser
  • Page Speed : some optimization help (requires Firebug)
  • Screengrab : do a screenshot of the whole webpage (not only the visible part)
  • Skip Cert Error (formerly MitM Me) : disable the certificate warning when visiting a https website for the first time
  • RSS Icon : bring back the friendly RSS icon in the url bar
  • Skip Feedsportal : because we don't need no ads in RSS feeds
  • Start Google Plus : let you mix Facebook & Twitter feeds with your Google+ one, and cross-post on the free networks. can also add a gmail notifier in the Google bar
  • Add-on Compatibility Reporter : avoid break of add-ons after each major Firefox update; plus, let you report what add-ons still works after update
  • Long URL Please : short URL sucks, here's a way to get back the long ones
  • Ghostery (and Collusion) : because privacy matters
  • Searchonymous : “Search anonymously on Google, while keeping your search preferences and stay logged in on services such as Youtube, Gmail, etc.”
  • The Addon Bar (Restored) New Add-on Bar : Gives you a place to put all your add-on buttons without over-crowding the navigation bar (a.k.a. “I use Firefox, and I don't want it to look like Chrome”)
  • about:addons-memory : Adds an about:addons-memory page that details add-on memory usage
  • Wappalyzer : Tells you what software is used on the current visited website
  • RequestPolicy Continued : Protect from ligatus/outbrain/etc. crap
  • Certificate Patrol : check for recently changed certificates
  • Video Blocker (Chrome) : remove channels from video suggestions
  • AutoAuth : Automatically submits HTTP authentication dialogs when you’ve chosen to have the browser save your login information
  • Shaarli : add a Shaarli button to bookmark delicious links
  • Toggle animated GIFs : because the shortest GIFs are the better ones :)
  • Two Factor Authenticator : Generates TOTPs for 2 factor authentication (Google Authenticator style)
  • Make Google Images Great Again : restore the “View image” button

For Facebook:

  • replace smileys : Replace text smileys with graphic ones
  • Facebook Fixer : a.k.a Facebook-on-steroids
  • Chat Killer : web is not for IM. Get a real client, and use Jabber.
  • Friends Checker : Regularly checks your Facebook friends to check whether anyone has removed you from their friends.
  • Nickbook : personal script to hide avatar below the comment box
  • Facebook w/o login nag : “Read Facebook pages without the “milky curtain”, nagging you to login/register.”
